For some of the most famous sports in the world, there also exists the video game alternative, such as FIFA (EA FC), F1, NBA 2K etc. Over the last decade, the world of e-Sports developed rapidly and gained independence from its real life homologue.
FIFA (EA FC) is probably the most followed e-Sport of them all. It first started gaining popularity in the 2000s, when more and more people started to have access to video games. There exist separate World Championship and European Championship for FIFA (EA FC), which were continuously organised every year since 2004 (except 2020 and 2021 due to Covid pandemic).
Another great example of a video game which became an e-Sport is F1. With the introduction of the Formula 1 e-Sport Series in 2017, the Formula 1 game started to gain more and more popularity. The series involves the real teams from Formula 1, which must select their drivers to compete in the official game, using special setups.
